Now that you've got yourself a label printer, you realize that this thing takes up quite a bit of space, largely due to the label stack or roll sitting behind it.
If you got a label roll (by the way, don't buy them since you can get them for free here), you would need to either hold the roll up every time you print or get a label holder. Except that these things usually cost an extra $20-30.
After trying out a few over the last year, we have narrowed it down to just three inexpensive options below. This way, you can save some extra money which can go into other parts of your business.
1. The DIY method
If you have a small workstation with some tools, like Nicholas Johnson here, you can make your own holder. That way, you can customize it to fit your needs and not have to buy one at all.

2. The Toilet Roll Holder
If you're not in the mood to DIY, you can get one of these minimalist, matte black toilet roll holders on Amazon. They are perfect for the label rolls: Just simply peel the adhesive, stick it to the surface where you want the roll to rest, and voilà!

A minimalist setup that takes up the least space.
I actually created a short video and shared on Tiktok about this label roll holder because it was such a lifesaver for us earlier this year, especially when all of the label holders were around CAD $40 (most of them still are!).

If you live in Canada, then this is one of the options. They all look the same, so make sure to price check before buying.
3. The New & Cheap Thermal Label Holder
Just as recently as a few months back, the cheapest label holders used to be around $20. Since it can be easily made, we predicted they would drop in price soon. As I was writing this article, I did a quick search again and found this label holder for just $9.99.

It's one of the better-looking ones as well! With no screws needed to assemble, it's also super easy to set up. The only downside is that cheap label holders like this are not available in Canada yet, so we Canadians will have to wait for a bit more.
